How The "Ben" Book Affected One Young Reader

Some feedback from a mum about the “Ben” book really made us smile. We think you’ll enjoy reading it, too!

” Dear Caroline,

I hope sales of “A Birthday for Ben” are going well. It is one of Christopher’s favourite books and I thought you’d like to know the impression it’s having on him.

He’s obsessed at the moment with police outfits and he asked for some accessories, including a “Police Bobby” hat. He puts on the gear, stands on a footstool and pretends he’s directing traffic. I had no idea where he got this from, until the other night we were reading the book, and there’s the English Bobby directing the traffic. Christopher does an exact imitation of him.

And the other night I saw him doing all kinds of gestures with his fingers. What’s that, I asked? “That’s how they do letters in A Birthday For Ben, mum” he replied. It’s from the little pictures showing the alphabet in sign language on one of the pages.

And he still talks about how mean the boy was who wouldn’t let Ben play games at his birthday party.

So, I think your story resonates with your target audience!!”Helen K. L.
