IDK’s “Meet and Greet” workshop for teenagers on April 2nd in Portlaoise, welcomed attendees from counties Donegal, Waterford, Dublin and Carlow.
After introductions, the morning session was opened by Mike Rossney, the first presenter, who mentioned his own securities when moving to secondary school. He then coached the teens in their technique when meeting new people, and gave tips on giving a positive first impression to a new person.
During the afternoon, IDK’s Caroline Carswell played a topical video-clip, and asked the teens for their feedback. A key point in this dialogue was the need for positivity and proactivity when meeting new people, because how we present ourselves directly influences others’ perceptions at this time.
Feedback was sought from all attendees and their parents/carers, to ensure the workshop content had been understood and was relevant to their needs.
This FREE workshop follows IDK’s February session and is made possible with funding from the Dublin Bus Community Support Programme 2010.
