New research* from the UK confirms that “good acoustics [in schools] can level the playing-field between deaf and hearing children” while reducing classroom stress for teachers and students, and improving overall learning.

With most deaf children now being taught in mainstream classrooms, this research shows good acoustics to benefit everyone. Architects in Ireland and the UK can also incorporate these insights into new schools they design.
